Great Western Animal Hospital
About Us

Since our small beginnings in the 1960’s as a one vet practice, Great Western Animal Hospital has been renovated and modernised over the years to become an A class four vet practice with great facilities and a dedicated, compassionate team of animal lovers.

As your pet’s family doctor, we will always have their best interests at heart. We offer exceptional and compassionate service, well considered advice and a gold standard of care that is tailored to their (and your) needs.

We as a team are committed to high quality Healthcare, Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. This means that it is very important for all our team members to participate in ongoing education and external courses to constantly update their skills. In the last year our vets have attended post graduate courses and seminars in Feline Medicine, Pharmacology, Osteoarthritis, Cardiac disease, Orthopaedic surgery, and Anaesthesia. One of our veterinarians, Dr Victoria is currently studying a year long post graduate course in Animal Behaviour. We also have vets with particular interest in ophthalmology, dermatitis and dentistry and a particularly talented orthopaedic and spinal surgeon who visits a number of times per week.

Our Nurses are also continuing with their nursing studies and attending seminars and training on subjects such as Pet Behaviour, Pet Nutrition and Preventative Medicine.

We have a special member of our team who focuses on Customer Service and Satisfaction. His name is Hudson and he answers most of your phone calls during the day and also makes lots of follow up calls each day. His main function is to make sure that we maintain regular and close communication with our clients when their pets have recently undergone treatment (so that the vets can better monitor their progress) and that they are happy with our service. So if you are talking to Hudson on the phone, please let him know what you think.

We welcome issues raised by our clients. We actively seek client feedback on how we are performing and things we can do to improve our services.

We set aside one Wednesday per month between 12.30pm and 3.30pm where our team sits down to discuss important issues, developing practice protocols as well as undertaking staff training and development. We also invite visiting speakers to present information on new products and procedures to our meetings.

We have invested a lot into our computer software and hardware and our website. We are also sending out monthly newsletters to those clients who have registered their email addresses with us. It is a very easy way for us to keep in regular contact with you and offer good advice regarding your pet’s health.

Our mission statement is: Our dedicated healthcare team, at the Great Western Animal Hospital, are committed to caring for and improving the quality of life of family pets and their wonderful owners.

If there is anything we can help you with, from a medical or behavioural problem with your pet or even regarding flea, worming or nutritional advice, please give us a call and speak to one of our friendly staff.
